Hey guys I have missed a lot of work, I am trying but a lot of days I just cant make it. Any ideas of how to get some extra cash on the side. I was thinking ebay, but I was hoping for more ideas. It stresses me out and then I miss more work cuz the stress makes my symptoms worse, it is a vicious cycle.

what do you do  for a living? You could try selling on graigslist  if you have a garage full of stuff?

Do you do any kind of crafts???? I crochet towels and make scrubbies. I can set up any time I want in our mall of course it costs. But I've made good money at times. It depends on when you set up. You have to get a sales tax license. But if I don't feel good it takes my mind off some of my problems. And I've been in the hospital and nurses come and buy scrubbies from me. I told my hubby I'm the only person I know who went into ICU and made money. You can go on line and get scrubbie pattern, here they really sell.

I take digital photographs of nature stuff. There has been a lot of interest in buying them but i really haven't pursued it as much as I should.

People pay big money for dog watching around here. If you are working you probably couldn't do daycare but you could do weekend boarding/babysitting. My school had a local fundraising auction and I donated a weekend of dogsitting. Someone paid the school $200 for that!! Depending on the level of service you offer (are they staying at your house all weekend, or are you just going over to feed, let out) then I would charge $50-$100.

You could also offer to do night and weekend babysitting as long as the children were old enough to be left alone while you use the bathroom.

I also agree with crocheting.  Scarves and blankets are easy to make.  In my area there are co-op stores where people can bring their craftss to sell.  Also the famers markets allow you to rent a table for cheap.  Flea markets would probably work too.

The easiest and quickest thing to sell on ebay or half.com or amazon is books.  You can sell old text books for a lot if they are still being used at other schools.  I sold all my old babysitters club books and sweet valley high stuff.  Half.com will tell you what the new price is and what others selling the same book used are charging and then you can adjust your price accordingly.

etsy.com is the new big thing for crafters.  I've never shopped there or had a store, but I know there are people who make nice money on there.  In fact, it was mentioned on Good Morning America the other day.

I am a garage sale fiend....pick up stuff dirt cheap...slap a coat of paint on it and re-sell it in my own yard sale. I don't generally purchase anything that I can not turn around for at least a 90-100% profit. Does have some drawbacks in hot weather though.

I have considered selling my body to science. I am sure to get 5 bucks for it. If they ever really try brain transplants they will have to start small. Yep, I really think I have a future as a cadaver. Guess you could say I'm dying to try.

hahaha.

Reminds me of this Anime show called Ghost in the Shell (set sometime in the near future, maybe 100 years or so), in which prosthetic/cyborg bodies are commonplace. Its a good show, too. Very realistic, in the sense that it doesn't take a huge leap of imagination to see how the future could turn out like that. I can only hope...

Anyway, aside from those shady looking commercials about starting your own home business, I can't think of much you could do to get some supplemental income. If you're burdened by your medical bills though, there are often programs for Crohnies to get free/reduced price meds, as well as clinical trials. Might alleviate some of the pressure.

Just an idea, but I used to work for assisted living homes when i was younger. The pay was not huge by any means, but it was a job that keeps you close to a bathroom. The two homes i worked at were higher functioning special needs individuals, so it involved making dinner, keeping an eye on everyone, and just making sure they took their baths, meds, etc. I also did sleeper shifts at times which only paid minimum wage but i would go in from 11pm-7am and sleep. They didn't need a full staff at night... just someone there in case the ladies had any problems in the middle of the night. I don't know about the state regulations where you are at, but usually you just have to take a class after you get hired to become MORC trained. It didn't require any other schooling besides a high school diploma.

I would suggest esty.com or half.com. I make about $100-200 a month on half.com just depends how much I have listed. I have just been selling books I have around the house and I have asked family and friends for their unwanted books. I also look on Craig's list for free books. Even if I only sell them for $1 I still make money since they were free.

Look into being a medical records coder for a Doctors office, insurance company, or hospital.  I have a friend who did this part time at home and made a lot.  She got paid per record.  At first she went into the office but she could work when she wanted and at any hour -- very flexible, which is great for crohnies!  Also, you would learn the codes they use to submit bills -- could be useful.

You really have to read Stiff, by Mary Roach. It's about all the really neat things that are done with cadavers. It is both funny and fascinating, although not everyone's cup of tea.

Well, there are many jobs now that allow people to work from home either full time or part time.

I work as a Claims Analyst (adjuster), and I get to work from home on the computer all the time.

You just have to dig deeper than everyone else when it comes to finding employers that offer this.

There is a website that puts employees interested in telecommuting, in contact with the employers who want those people. I heard about it on public radio a while ago....

it is sort of an ebay for jobseekers....but of course, you only get to keep working if you are productive. I hope the site i found is the same one the radio show was talking about....
