So i have been recently diagnosed with Crohn's and it unfortunately "caught me with my pants down", if you will. I'm a hairdresser, and our work insurance is insanely expensive. I had this sense of immortality and never signed up so I am currently uninsured. The gastro doc has been super helpful by giving me samples of my Asacol until i hear back from Medicaid. If i'm denied, i'm going to have to figure something else out. I've called some insurance companies and they mainly say Crohn's is a part of their "denial" list. I'm moving to Florida in 7 weeks and will be job hunting asap as soon as i get my address from the apartment complex. So is it true that these companies can flat out deny you individual insurance forever or is there something i'm not understanding? As a hairdresser, a lot of independant salons don't have group insurance so i'm wondering if i need to work something retail just to get the insurance. I enjoy doing hair though, in an independant setting as opposed to a walk-in place.
