Saw GI last week and decided to go on methrotrexate by injection. Have read former posts on it. I was diagnosed last July after colonoscopy in which they found a stricture in my sigmoid colon. I was put on Prednisone for three months but no medication since Oct 07. Still no usual symptoms of Crohn's but scopes (three colonoscopies and three sigmoidocopies) show inflammation at the site of the stricture. Plan is to take it for 3 or 4 months, take another look and then possibly dilation or surgery.

Can't help with the methotrexate, but I recently had a dilation done. I'm not sure it helped much. My GI is looking for a surgeon, but said he must find one who is very familiar with working on someone who has lost so much bowel. He is afraid I will lose what digestion & absorption I have left after 2 resections. So, the surgeon may decide not to do surgery because I am not having fistulas, abcesses or obstructions. It would basically be to stop the pain and he amy feel it is not warranted.

So, I am in limbo. Hopefully if you need dilation it will work for you.
