Problems with veins before infusion

I don't know if its related to Crohns or not, but I have the worst veins ever. I never get a IV in just one shot. Whenever I am in the hospital they have to always call a special IV nurse in to put in a midline or picc line becuz my viens are so bad. Try to drink alot of water the days before your infusion and also ask them to put some heat on your arm first to help plump the viens up some. Good luck!

I have the same issue with my veins. They are really tiny and tend to roll. For the second time I couldn't get my remicade at my dr's office because the nurse practitioner couldn't get an iv in after 3 tries. Instead of having to deal with another hospital infusion, and since the remicade doesn't seem to be making a major difference, my GI suggested I switch to Cimzia. Waiting for approval.

Nanners advise is definitely worth trying. They have worked for me in the past.

Yes, I do....I do what nanners suggested. Drink tons of water for the few hours before your infusion, and then before they try, have them put a HOT wet washcloth on the area. Maybe have them try a smaller needle also.
