"Inflamed" biopsies?

I just the results of my colonoscopy and my doctor said that my biopsies came back "inflamed." Does anyone know what that means? I thought biopsies were to test for cancer and they came back either positive or negative. Thanks, Debbie

No, biopsies are done for several reasons. In your case I take it they were taken to confirm or rule out current Crohn's disease activity. The biopsies can detect inflammation not visible to the naked "eye" of the scope.

Inflammed means your intestines are inflammed with probably active disease in that/those area(s).
