Capsule "results"

Hey all. Sorry I've been kind of missing in action around here. School is super busy and I've been super drained so I haven't had much time to comment on the posts, definitely been reading them though.

So I went in today to get the results of my capsule. And I'm super annoyed that I had to pay my $35 copay to find out that: (1) The capsule stayed in my stomach the whole 8 hours it was recording, so no results or useful images, and (2) the capsule is STILL in me. Gah!!!

I went in a week after the capsule to get my X-ray. I have now learned to never trust the x-ray technician when they say "we don't see it, so it's probably out." According to my physician's assistant, which is who I met with today, the capsule is probably in the transverse colon. But I guess the good news is that there is definitely no evidence of obstruction.

So I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor's office to find out if my doctor wants me to do prep before the x-ray, I guess to possibly make it easier for them to tell where it is. If it's gone then I'm going to do another capsule endoscopy, but this time I'm going to have to be out while they stick it all the way down my throat and place it where they want it to start recording. Sounds thrilling. Apparently if it is still in me, I'll only have to start getting concerned if it's in there for 6 months.

I have no idea why it didn't go through my stomach in those 8 hours. I did everything they told me to do. I waited the time until I was allowed to drink or eat again. I didn't lie down.. I sat at the angle I was supposed to. And it's especially frustrating since this was my second capsule. I had no problems the first time. So I'm just frustrated. Especially since I've been having much sharper abdominal pain in the past few weeks. I just want this to get solved and I'm annoyed that no one told me until today about all of this. Especially since they knew since the end of August!!

I had that happen to me once a couple years ago -- the capsule sat in my stomach the entire time and never moved over the 6-8 hour recording time.  I had been feeling pretty nauseous the week before the procedure and even landed in the hospital, so I guess my stomach just wasn't empyting into the small intestine like it should.  Probably some small bowel inflammation was backing up my whole GI tract.

I re-did the procedure a few weeks later when I was feeling better and it went through my stomach in 10 minutes!
