Hi Phoebe I think it certainly could cause some fever after all a abcess is usually a infection. Did you check yout temp ? My temp is always low even when I am sweating . Are you soaking in warm water the table salt is great mine was barely noticable yesterday I also check it with a mirror everday as well, so far no openings so it is draining without causing too much trouble my PG said to go in if was draining puss which it isn't also find the soaks good on hemmies. Let us know how it goes.How big did the lump feel? lol gail

Hi Gail, the lump doesn’t feel too big, but still its definitely there, definitely a lump. It is draining pus so I am a bit worried about it, and it is excruciatingly painful! All weekend it’s been difficult to walk/sit and I’ve been feeling really sick, not just normal crohn’s sick but really queasy, off my food and weak. So maybe its going into my blood, I’m not sure.

Will try a bath in salt tonight…. Nothing seems to be helping 

Hi Can you get to a Dr. soon ? Have you been soaking in a tub? I'd get to a Dr. real soon if it was that bad. Keep us updated. How far are you from medical help?lol gail

I’m trying to survive through today at work but I don’t know of I can make it… I keep getting these waves of nausea where I am sure I am going to throw up, and then they pass, so I try and eat something, but it comes back again. I don’t really want to take a sick day today and would rather take one tomorrow, but I may not have the choice if I go on feeling like this.

Would this be a result of the ‘thing’ (abscess, boil, fistula, whatever it is) – because it doesn’t feel like my normal crohn’s sick. Is the infection going into my blood or something?

If I don’t leave work today I’ll take the day off tomorrow and try and see a dr, maybe he can drain it. I haven’t had a bath yet, just piping hot showers, and I’ve tried draining it but not much comes out, there’s definitely stuff coming out but not enough from what I can see…

Hi Hope you can get threw the day if you are worried about it getting in the blood you could call outpatients perhaps and ask a nurse and tell her about your nausea, I think if it got bad enough it might but don't know. A warm bath might help when you get home i use a tablespoon of table salt in the tub. lol gail

I have had three, none have ever healed. At first, I thought it was hemorroids, but by the next day couldn't sit. Mine are very painful, bleed and drain pus. Have had two surgeries which were useless. Luckily my doctor will give me antibiotics when really feeling bad and pain meds for a few days when I cant sit.
