BORING!!!

I caught a little stomach bug from a girl at school and am working from home today.  I always thought this would be every crohnies dream.  It is SO BORING!!  I think I would get depressed in 3 days.  It also makes me feel so lazy.  Working at my desk sitting down in my office all day is one thing.  Laying on my couch all day, typing or not, seems so lazy.  Don't know how people do it that do it all the time.  Where is the incentive to even shower??

It is boring. I watch a friends baby (almost 1) 2 days a week. We usually go out for part of the day, but last week I was feeling sick and he's such a good baby and just plays well by himself that I watched him despite feeling like crap. I called my husband half way through the day and joked that if I had a beer in one hand I would be every parents nightmare nanny.

I hope you feel better soon. If I could send you chicken soup I would!

I dunno about working from home, but Ive been home now for 2 going on 3 weeks recovering from a resection and Im about ready to go insane, its def making me lazy and I hate it.  I CANNOT wait to go back to work and see everyone, even the people I hate haha.  I completely understand what your saying about whats the incentive of even taking a shower...for me right now that means I actually did something for the day...its annoying me to no end.  I cant wait until Nov. 1st when I go back to work and actually get back on schedule and a daily routine.

Oh yeah, with my stomach bug I'm glad to be home but it is so boring and quiet and I thought my dog would be thrilled but she is acting like I am disturbing her sleeping schedule. And the cat is pissed b/c he is not allowed on the new couch but when I'm not home he gets on it anyway. It is just so pretty out today and I can think of 100 better things to be doing than 8 hours of work. Normally I would take a regular sick day but there is a time sensitive deadline coming up and I might as well be getting paid to be sick. Since I'm not full time right now sick time = no pay.

And Zanne, thanks for the virtual chicken soup! Its yummy!

I use to feel exactly like you do, that I would rather be at work. But as I get older and my Crohns has changed, I think I could easily stop working. Even if I was on disability I would not stay on the couch though, I would find ways to occupy my time. But of course, if I were to get sick, then the couch is as far as I could go:)

You know as I continued to think about your post I had another thought. If I were able, I would LOVE to be able to work from home. I wouldn't have to get up so dang early, I wouldn't have to get dressed if I didn't want to, and I could use my little heating bag anytime I wanted. (I am addicted to that thing). So yes, I could easily work from home and know I wouldn't be bored doing that. But as stated before, if I was out on disability instead, I still wouldn't be staying in the house all day. I would find something to occupy myself with.

Am having a time picturing Nanners ,,not getting dressed,,with her little heating bag,,working at the computer. HMMMMMM. Trouble with being home is the 97 channels and nothing on. Nothing on,,, that brings us back to Nanners, Hmmmm. Well anyway I cant sit down and do nothing all day either. I would end up in a straight jacket. Hope you feel better soon Fitzy.

Tell me about it Fitzy!! My company closed my office July 1 and made me go to work from home status or I would have to move to the big city far away. it stinks! it is lonely. I am saving money on gas and food, but we are spending more on dinners. My husband gets home and I practically drag him right out the door to go to dinner (he doesn't fight a dinner out too much!). I have to leave the house. My new thing is that going to the curb to get the mail in the afternoon is exciting - so sad :-) POSITIVE---I have my own bathroom all the time!
I am going to try walking for half an hour when work slows down a bit. Help I am going stir crazy too!!!!!

I don't know how tied you are to your phone but if all you need is your computer and work stuff try going to different libraries. Local colleges have great libraries and you don't have to be a student (or a member of a town library) to just use the facility. Bring your lap top and find a nice mahogany table! My husband writes on the side and sometimes on the weekends we will venture to random libraries and Ill do my law school work and he will write for a couple hours. Its fun!

I work in health insurance so PHI protection is supreme. No wireless allowed for me and I have to work on my designated computer. pretty much tied to this place. Well it's 6pm here and I am going to make the "commute" to the living room!

Good old HIPPA. While I'm glad we are all protected I have to laugh at the thought of some pimpled teenage hacker on the street corner going YES, I now know that Jane Doe has asthma. Woo hoo. Maybe I am just naive about wireless interception and what could be done with the information... Sorry you are chained home but glad you still have a job!!!

I'm the opposite, I hated working! LOL I'm quite the happy little homemaker though, always have been. Always loved staying at home with my son, and now that we homeschool I'm quite busy. It's certainly not for everyone I know. When I worked I was so much sicker, always so tired, and just so unhappy! LOL I love being home. But I would be bored to tears if all I did was sit on the couch! However if I'm sick with a stomach bug, I wouldn't be able to do much else! Usually I'm in bed with those!

Ivy - we posted at the same time and I never saw your response. Normally I would say that it would help but I only had one task today that just took 8 hours and still isn't done. But thanks for the support and I am feeling a ton better. Lots of naseau this morning, cramps, and peeing out of my butt, it was just totally different from my crohns pain and symptoms. Somehow I could tell the difference. And instead of aching joints I have achy muscles. Now I just have period cramps and aches but my stomach still feels like I could have the runs at any moment. My crohns gives me D but not usually the pure hot liquid. Sorry for the graphic. But that is a bug in my book.
