Surgery yesterday

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that Sierra's surgery went well.  They were able to do lapro, yes!!!  Her longest incision is about 4 in.  They did an ileocolectomy (sp?) and resection.  They removed the illeum, about 4 in of lg and 8 in or so of sm.  She is doing pretty good.  She's in pain but that is to be expected.  She had a rough night with pain, nausea and vomiting but hasn't vomited since about midnight.  She has had some jello but isn't interested in eating otherwise.  I will keep ya's posted.  Thanks for your support and prayers!

She did get up this afternoon and did pretty good. They removed the cathetor today so she is using the bathroom. She has some blood in her urine so they are doing a test to be sure she doesn't have a UTI but most likely is being caused from irritation from the cathetor. Surgery was only 2 1/2 hrs but it seemed like forever. I stayed the night with her last night and my husband is staying tonight. Her surgeon came in and would like her to try to walk a little this evening. She said sitting up then standing is rough but once she is up it is ok. She refused the epideral so pain management is her battle right now but I think in the long run it's probably better?! They were going to leave the epideral in for a few days but she was really against it.

Hi I think I was on the epidermal for 2 or 3 days and it had worked good. Good she is getting up and hope you get a good night sleep . It is always nice to get the catheter out. Zanne is right by tomorrow she will be doing better still. Takes some time to get the strength back. Sounds good they didn't have to take alot of bowel too. Good thoughts are going your way. lol gail
