I have had a rash under my wafer most of the summer months that comes and goes depending on the heat and humidity. It will seep a faint but smelly odor and itches a bit. I was told to apply Nystatin powder to the area because it was fungal but it seems to make it worse. Does anyone have any ideas as to what type of rash it could be and any rx that could clear it up??

Sorry but what the heck is a wafer??? Is it your butt??? and exactly where abouts is the exact location?

pb4 you just made me laugh!! The wafer is what the pouch attaches to, sorry sometimes I assume EVERYONE has one!
I have tried using Monistat cream and it's 10% better today. I'm just not sure if its bacterial or fungal since I have never had this rash before.

chin up you just made me laugh too...I had no clue, I thought wafer was a british term for butt or something close by it anyways.

I think it's best you see your GP about it because you can never be too careful....

Now that I know what a wafer is, I dont have a wafer, but I do get a rash in other places and I use a medicated powder like gold bond . That helps me alot.

I have been dealing with the same issue. I believe you have a yeast infection on your skin. Symptoms includes wetness, odor, and it is itches. I saw both my physician and a dermatologist. I had better luck with the dermatologist's treatment. My physician gave me a prescription fungal cream, and it did not work. My dermatologist has me blow drying the area after showering and applying an anti-fungal powder. I also have to clean the area with very strong face soap. Depending how large the area is, it could take a month or two to heal.
