Does anything think the BCP has anything to do with flares?  I quit taking them the last time I had a D flare and then went back on them for a month and just had some weird flare of my small intestine, so now I'm scared to take them.  I need them to regulate my cycle but I don't want to take them if they are going to cause issues.

I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen.

B/C pills can exacerbate symptoms because of the hormones, when we get our periods there is hormonal fluctuations that can exacerbate our symptoms during that time of the month. B/C pills also add to bacterial overgrowth, something us IBDers are prone to have which exacerbate our symptoms...taking a good probiotic daily and indefinitely is essential to help balance the gut flora.

So do you think acidophilus is enough?  I try to take that everyday especially since I am on Cipro and Flagyl.

I don't know, but I know I have better success with the primdophilus reuteri then I did with plain acidophilus which is what I started with when first using probiotics.

And the primadophilus rueteri made by natures way has 5 billion live cultures.

I was having horrendous periods, and crohns flares during that time. So, I experimented and stopped taking the pill. It was the best decision I have ever made. My periods are so much better, and I hardly notice a difference in my crohns during that time.

For me the pill makes my crohns better because mine is way worse during my period and my periods are shorter w/ my bc.

im on the depo injection i find that really good with my crohns,had terrible nausea not sure if it was frm my pill or crohns,find the injection easier to deal with coz im already taking so many pills i thort myte aswel take one less,

I take Lutera everyday (the gyn said I could skip the inactive pills). Thankfully, it doesn't give me any problems, and the lack of a period helps my anemia.
