MAP videos

A relatively new (Dalziel 1913) but actually fairly old (2002) article on MAP and CD. The last few paragraphs are especially good. Reads like a novel.

To inform all of you, I have been talking via email to the doctor in europe who is working on a MAP vaccine (Dr. Taylor). He was just in the US in Washington DC to give a presentation on MAP to our country. Kinda funny how the US is looking at him and his research. Primarily the hope is that it will 'cure' those with CD. And I am not positive as to whether or not it will be used to prevent disease in those at risk groups. I guess that will depend on its efficacy and our ability to develop better ways to determine who those at risk groups are.

They need to raise money for human trials in people with CD. They first need to do safety trials with healthy individuals, but there are provisions in the regulations that might allow them to go straight to CD trials because the viral vector being used in the vaccine is already recognized as safe and in use.

If you watch the presentation, another avenue forward as far as treatments might be J&J's drug that would be able to target MAP specifically, and most importantly be able to kill dormant MAP, something none of the current antibiotics are able to do, and because MAP can remain dormant for so long it is almost impossible to completely eradicate it, which is why most people that have been 'cured' on the antibiotics remain on low doses of them indefinitely.

Yes the video posted at ibdvideos is from the recent presentation in Washington. It has some of the same content as the presentation Dr. JHT gave that was posted on youtube before by the Spaniards.

I see your son is gradually using the SCD. I had used it for a number of years - I still often make the butternut squash. One thing I would comment on the SCD in the negative is that it 'okays' a lot of honey, probably too much honey; otherwise, it is a great diet.

I think it allows too much honey because too much honey will feed bad bugs just the same as will too much white sugar, albeit not quite as much.

I personally generally don't eat dairy (or casein), red meat, gluten and i try to limit sugar
