I've been on entocort for about
2 years now (probably longer than I should). My family doctor doesn't think much of it but my GI is kinda annoyed that its one of the drugs I like. I find it very good, low side effects and actually helps symptomatically. I gained about
8-10 lbs after about
a year or so on this drug...so nothing major. It decreases pain and helps your appetite along slightly. Words of advice with entocort...try and take calcium supplements while on it, especially if your lactose intolerant.
As for Imuran, I've tried it once...and for me...after a week from starting it, nausea kicked in that was too annoying for me and i quit taking it. I even followed the advice of taking it at night after your supper to avoid side effects...still didn't do much. Also caused alot of indigestion. I remember having a small bowl of ice cream (I can usually have ice cream), and that just cramping around in my stomach for like 2 hours. Not fun. But alot of folks tolerate it and do pretty well on it.
I'm suspecting your doc will try and taper you off entocort after the 3 month mark if you find that its working well enough and you don't wanna go with Humira. 3 months is when they say the Imuran starts to work.
