Docor put me back on Pred. 30mg but didn't say how to take it and as always I never think to ask while there. Would you split it up or take it in the evening all at one time?

First off, if I took 30 mg of prednisone in the evening I would never sleep. That type of dosage does give lots of people insomnia so it is best taken in the morning. Usually, doctors prescribe the entire dose to be taken at one time. HOWEVER, not all doctors do that so you need to call the office in the AM and ask for clarification.

I used to take it with dinner and was fine, but the second or third time around I had trouble sleeping and had something that felt like restless leg syndrome in my shoulders and arms. You can split it up OR take it all at once. Whichever suits you. If you have trouble sleeping then take it in the morning. If you feel like taking it all at once doesn't help you the entire day then split it in half for the morning and noon times. Just as examples really..either way is fine. You just have to find what works best for you.

EEk!! I did put evening didn't I. Even I know it wouldn't be good to take that much in the evening I too get insomnia on Pred.. I really did mean morning. What an airhead Huh. Thanks for the feedback Ides and LMills. I was on 40mg in July, August, Sept.and Oct. and took 20 in am and 20 in pm and didn't sleep much at all. Thats why I was asking.

Hello!

I always take my prednisone first thing in the morning otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep! I take the full prednisone dosage at the same time. Good luck and I hope you get to sleep!!! Gotta love the pred (NOT)!! =)

All 30 first thing in the am when you get up is best, a persons reaction to pred can change every time they're on it as well, but it's still always best to take your whole dose at once first thing in the am.

Yes I am on Pred right now too, and I take it the very first thing in the morning. Haven't had any probs with insomnia this time. Good luck!!

my doctor made me split it up and take 15mg in the morning and 15mg at night...i think it really helped me not feel as wired as i would if i took it all at once...good luck :)
