Hey all -- hope all is well with everyone.
Long story short: I started dating a guy I met a few weeks ago. He too, has Crohn's (and Colitis as well).
He doesn't take any medication. He's not always feeling too well, but he's also not on any meds other than herbs, vitmains, and teas. I take a TON of vitamins and I'm always up to try something new for this DD.
So far, I've been trying this tea/drink/mix thing that has seemed to ease cramping and aid in digestion. He drinks it about 3-4 times a day, whereas I am at 1-2 times, plus my meds, and vitamins.
The drink:
1 TBSP of each:
Slippery Elm powder
Ground Tumeric powder
Red Raspberry Leaves
Nettles
He does it a bit differently than I do, but I've found that brewing the Raspberry and Nettles in a tea infuser with about 12-20 oz. of hot water for 10mins, then putting the powders in an empty water bottle, and mixing the whole mess works best for me. I usually use one of the medium sized Gatorade bottles as it is capable of holding more than the amount of liquid I'm mixing. (The warm tea will make smaller bottles explode, lol). He also uses a Colon Care product made by Yerba Grande (again, adding a TBSP of it with the powders).
Also, there are a few vitamins that I am swearing by:
Vitamin E, Rutin, Super B-Complex, and Calcium/Magnesium
So far, it seems to be working well. Licorice root, Milk Thistle, and Lemon rhine teas help to detox and cleanse the body of toxins. Peppermint, Spearmint, Chamomile, Dandelion, and Blueberry teas help to soothe.
ALWAYS make sure you consult your Dr. before trying new things due to interactions and allergic reactions.
I'm hoping that at least someone will find this information helpful. I have a pletheora of information about other herbs and medication as well.
Happy Holidays all!
xoxo
