we have enough to cover my wife with sod, and for her to live comfortably when i croak..;0)..
seriously though it will never be cheaper for you to get than now. as you age it gets more expensive. most companies have wierd age lines. like at 29 its gonna go up then 35 -39 group then like 40-47. all wierd groupings. determined by the death rates of those age groups. if you can get some through agroup such as work, credit union membership, union etc.. it usually cheaper... look to pay about 10 dollars a month for each increment of coverage, for example, 10,000=10 bucks a month, 100,000= 100 bucks a month. of course each company will be differant and the coverage time may differ.
term insurance should be for a set time like 10 years 20 years etc.. then at the end you lose coverage or May be given the opportunity to switch to whole life. which will last as long as you pay the premiums.
some whole life policies can be made to pay the premiums with the interest earned after a set number of years..
i would set up an appointment with a reputable person, most agents that sell car insurance for major companies also sell life insurance.. state farm ,allstate, met life , etc...
its good that your thinking about it now. most young people dont and its sad..
also good to buy small policies for children, many people dont realize that when they turn 18 they can convert to a policy without a medical exam. so if they do have some type of illness they can still have insurance as an adult.
like i said please consult a professional and write down the question you want answered. . hope this helps
