Hi,

i am 24 year old girl from Iceland, i just been diagnosed with Crohn´s, i have been getting more and more sick since agust 2007, first the doc said i had Microscopic colitis, then i was diagnosed with Colitis and now in December i got the news that i had Crohn´s .

i have had 3 Colonoscopy this year nut much fun :S and i also ate this camera that takes pics of the small intestines.
I have had to be in the hospital for one week in November and 10 days in December.
And i have to take lots of steroids, and my face looks like a moon :S but i should be free from steroids after 3 weeks.

No as i wright this i am getting my first Remicade infusion :) and i feel really optimistic about that drug. Sure hope it works.

Just wanted to say that this chat is great so much info here just love it, we don't have such a open Crohn´s community in Iceland so it will be nice to talk to you guys.

Your English is wonderful, isergodur, and I'm so glad you found us!!

This place has been a haven for me for years... I don't know what I would do without it!

I'm sorry you've had such a bumpy start, and that the road led you to crohn's. It's a crummy disease, but as you'll see, we support each other and make the best of even the worst situations. We all have our ups and downs. Sometimes we have a tendency to post here more when we're down, so the topic list can look a little depressing from time to time, but that's just because everybody that's doing well is out and about living good lives! And remember, there is NO topic to nasty to talk about... when it comes to crohnies and questions we all expect a certain "ick"-factor when dealing with the digestive system.

I started Remicade pretty early on, and man am I glad I did. I can't use it anymore, but I absolutely loved it, and it really did give me my life back for several years. I hope it works wonders for you too!

It is good to have someone to talk to with the same problem. And of course we talk more about what is going wrong, that is when we need support ;)

At the moment i am so positive and excited to see how remicade will work for me..

HI Welcome to HW and glad you joined us there are quite a few posters here in there twenties .Where is your crohn's located ? Seems some of us do get off to a not so pleasant start with crohn's but it does help to have support. Let us know how your infusions go wishing you the best. lol gail

I have it in the left and right side of the colon and i am waiting for more info on the status of the small intestines.

I was just in my last check on Monday so i am waiting for some more results.

I will let you guys know how the Remi is going :) it has been running now for two hours and i don't feel a thing.
So all good so far :)

Welcome! We were all new at one time, to Crohn's and Healingwell!
I'm new here as well, from Canada, but certainly not new to Crohn's.
I can say for certainity this is the place for help and support.
I feel very welcomed here and would like to pass on that welcome to you.

The Remicade infusion went great no allergic reaction.

No i am home and i think there is not as much blood as it used to be :)
Very hopeful :)

I will get the next fix on Jan 22.

hello isergodur, i am glad you had an easy time of your first infusion.. i have always been facinated by iceland! i almost got to live there for a year back in the "80's. but i did not work out.. are you near Rejkavik? or a smaller town far away.. how far do you have to go for your infusuions? some of us here only have to go a few miles/kilometers, others have to drive for a longer distance. keep your spirits high! and good luck to you!

I live in Reykjavik, i only have to go about 5 km to the hospital :)

if you guys want to travel Iceland is perfect at the moment, the icelandic króna is so cheap because of the bad economy here :)
You could shop till you drop.. or in our case have to go to the toilet ;)

But i was reading that some of you had to pay insane amount for Remicade :S i only have to pay 15 dollars for each infusion, that is cheap right ?

I am trying to be optimistic and not think about the next infusion just hope this works well for me..
I have a panic disorder and all this not helping with that but i try to stay positive and think like pollyanna :)

yeah 15 is cheap.. mine is frre to me with my insurance, but others are not so well insured and it can cost many thousands ofr a year.. however it is given by weight so it is less expensive if your thin ;-)
