Hi...I went to my doctor about my stomach hurting.  I thought it was my crohns..He thinks I may have an ulcer.  He wanted me to have to test where they put the scope down your throat to look at your stomach...well, I havn't done that yet.  My stomach hurts right in the middle..It's very sore..It feels like I just worked out and I am very sore from it...has anyone ever had this happen?  I just wonder if it is really an ulcer or something else.  Any suggestions on what to take for it if it was an ulcer?  Thanks!!

I take omeprazole for a hiatal hernia and acid, but I know that some doctors use it to treat ulcers as well..it's really effective in my treatment so maybe you could ask your doctor??

Angela, Is your pain right under your rib cage - in the center? I get pain there too sometimes.

I too have to take Prilosec along with my Crohns meds. I have acid reflux/gerd too, actually many of us suffer with it along with our Crohns.

Definitely could be an ulcer... but I've never been dx'd with one... would there be heartburn present if it were an ulcer?

I've been having similar pain myself, but with no heartburn. I researched it and came up with the possibility that it might be my pancreas... (there are changes in stool that also occur when your pancreas is upset, and I have those symptoms as well).

I've been drinking extra-lots of water for three days, as well as upping my intake of digestive enzymes and probiotics, and it seems to have helped quite a bit. The pain has really only been noticeable for me first thing after I wake up and my bowels are moving... once they calm down the pain pretty much goes away now.

Let me know if you guys find out anything! I can't get into the doc for another couple weeks, so I'm just winging it here... curious to see what all this is about.

Angela, my stomach always bothers me and it's usually just attributed to acid reflux and gastritis, but I did end up with 3 ulcers last year.  The stomach scope isn't bad at all...that's one of easiest procedures I have done!  I take Protonix for the acid reflux and he increased it until my ulcers healed.  I also take Librax for when I have stomach spasms.  Your doctor may try something like Prilosec, Zantac, Protonix, etc. if you have ulcers.  The last scope I had done showed that I had bacteria, so he gave me an antibiotic that time and it helped a lot, so there are a lot of things that your doctor can try.

I totally agree with patientspiders. Try a strong multi probiotic and digestive enzymes. It may take several days, but you will notice a very nice difference afterward.
