Imuran Question

My daughter is about to start Imuran as well, but is waiting to have the Chicken Pox vaccine first. That's about the only info. I can share, is that you should not take this drug if you haven't had Chicken Pox.

I've been on 6MP for over a decade. The only issue I've had is when they tried to increase my dose. My liver levels went out of whack. Initially you need to have blood levels check very frequently to make sure your liver is not being affected. After awhile you can space out the testing. Once we went back down to a lower dose my levels went back to a normal range.

Some people find that it makes them tired and so the common thought is to take it at bed time, just an FYI. Also, it can make some people a little nauseous at first. Both of these side effects tend to wear off as time go on.

I have been taking Imuran for a little over 3 months now and have not had any problems with it.

I was on generic Imuran for about 3 years...had no symptoms from it, eventually it lost its effectiveness. I recommend a lot of fluid intake with it, just to keep the kidneys going.
