Do you ever get Remicade if you're not feeling well?

I usually get Remicade every 4 weeks, but it has been 6 weeks since I received it because I got the flu.  I don't have a fever anymore, but I still don't feel well so I am going to cancel my appointment for today and reschedule, just to be on the safe side.  My question is, do you ever receive your Remicade if you have a fever, or if you're just feeling "crummy," or do you postpone it?  I hate to keep putting it off, because I really need it.......  Thank you for your time!  Blessings, Julie

I've done it before when I had a bad cough, needless to say the nurses were not so pleased with me...but obviously I survived.

I would speak to the doctor before you cancel...you don't want to exacerbate your disease if you don't have to.

My nurse always asks if I have an active infection before she starts the drug. 

Talk to your doctor, get his opinion.

I have talked to my doc when I had a cold and I have NEVER postponed an infusion.

Yes I have, I usually lie to the nurse.   I know a lot of you will say i'm being bad, but I'm just answering truthfully.

I'm with Mish... I have lied to the nurse many times... bad though it may have been. I've never been "feverish", but I have had a cold or just general ick before when being infused. I found out the hard way that postponing the infusion was worse for my guts than living with the cold for an extra week or so. But again, that's just me.

I have had 3 Remicade infusions and for two of them, when I went in, I had a low-grade fever.  The first time the nurse called my doctor and spoke to the pharmacist and they decided to move ahead with the infusion.  The second time I had a fever, my GI was out and the pharmacist said to go ahead anyhow so they did. 

I am with the others on here--I would rather have the Remicade while not feeling too great then pay the consequences of waiting for the infusion.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback. I called my GI today and I am going to receive my infusion Friday. That's the soonest I can get in. He asked me to wait a couple of days.
