Increasingly bad Humira injection site reactions

I've been on Humira for the first 4 shots...the following 2 shots...then every other week 1 shot for 5 shots. The last 4 have given me injection site reactions. They have been getting worse wirh each shot. First it was just a rash...now the last 2 swell up and itch for 1 or more weeks...this last one is swollen larger than my open outstretched hand...what can I do to help this?

That happened to me as well. The last big reaction I had was kind of in the shape of a diamond, and about as big as the palm of a hand. The itchy welt lasted for quite awhile, and left the skin discolored for even longer. I discovered that by letting the pen warm up longer (usually by holding it in my hand), that the shot is less painful and the reaction much smaller. I now get a small red spot no bigger than a nickel, and the itching and discoloration go away within a day or so.

Some people premedicate with prednisone for 2 days before the injections (I'm thinking it's 20MG each day). I also remember someone saying their doctor told them to premedicate with an antacid (something like Tagamat or Pepcid) and that for some bizarre reason, it kept them from having a reaction.
