It's cooler today, so the fire fighters are trying to do backburning and consolidate their fire breaks before things get hotter on Friday and the weekend.
No current urgent fire alert
s thanks to some rain and cooler weather, though a few communities are still needing to be vigilant.
Death toll is stable but likely to skyrocket at some point soon.
Thanks for asking,
Ivy.

I am glad you are getting a little bit of a break!! Why do you think the death toll will go up? Maybe they haven't had a chance to search the affected areas? Very sad.

FallColors, the fire was hot enough to melt metal. It's going to be very hard to identify some of the people who died.
It's also very hard to search through some of the worst-hit areas. I don't know what conditions are like there today, but I've heard that the ground is still red-hot and will burn your feet if you try to walk there.

Since Im not able to do much to help the victims of the fire at least I could give some money. I believe so far us Aussies have raised a cool 50 mill to help them rebuild their lives and that sum keeps climbing too, which is great. It breaks my heart seeing it all on tv and the wildlife loss has been huge too. take care all

We’re having a casual Friday fundraiser at work tomorrow to raise money. It’s great to see collection tins on just about
every single shop register in the country. I currently work in government….. I think all of the govt’ agencies and departments are holding a casual Friday fundraiser tomorrow, which is a terrific idea.

Still keeping you all in my prayers. Glad to hear that it is starting to cool down some. I heard your heat records were broken over and over.
I am loving the story about
Sam, I loved the pictures of her drinking from the Firemans water bottle. I feel so sad not only about
the innocent lives lost, but all the wildlife lost too. Very sad situation.
Hugs,
