question about endoscopic report vs. pathology report

Hi - it has been a while since being here.  Hope you can help with this question.  I am in a bad flare and have had to track records from a while ago (this is a long story in itself) - 1995 report

anyway - i am reading a file from a Dr. that told me I had Crohns disease and I need some help interpreting the endoscopic and pathology report

Endoscopic diagnosis: Moderately severe Crohn's Colitis

Pathology report: Proximal sigmoid and rectum show marked acute and chronic infalmmation with widespread acute cryptitis.  There is mild architectural distortion.  No granulomata or giant cells.  Findings are not specific and differential diagnosis includes inflammatory bowel disease and infectious colitis.

Are those 2 different diagnoses?  Further in my chart is continues to speak of Chron's Disease.  I guess my questions is this:

Would the pathology report come back with the words Crohn's Disease in it if that was true diagnosis?

PS I have not had colonoscopy since and this is first flare since.

Are those 2 diagnoses: No-the pathology report saying that a diagnosis includes inflammatory bowel disease and infectious colitis basically means that to the pathologist the sample they are looking at could fall into either of those things, either colitis from and infection, or crohn's. The dr who did your endoscopy (who I assume is a GI) saw more than just a little piece of tissue, and to them looking at the inside of you diagnosed crohn's colitis. Basically the pathology seconds what the endoscopy dr already assumed. A GI can diagnose you, then confirm with pathology that they are correct.

No problems. I'm just sitting here watching tv and reading!

By the way, that's one reason they usually try not to have patients read their own charts, because if you're not medically trained and don't know the terminology they use, it can confuse you, and in some cases, scare you because you jump to the wrong conclusions.
