Many moons ago, when I was a young lad, and cell phones were the size of satchels...I had my "grumbling appendix" removed. It had "grumbled" frequently throughout my childhood, but they never thought to ask why, they just warned me to avoid peanuts...
Anyway, after they had whipped it out, the surgeon told me that there was some inflammation in the adjacent gut, but that this would soon go away.
Twenty years later....guess where my CD always flares up ? LRQ, just about
where my appendix used to be. I would think that it wasn't the CD made worse by the appendicitis though, it was the other way around, and all they were doing was removing a Crohn's infected part of the gut when they did the appendectomy.
But the crux of the matter as far as you are concerned Starah is that, no, I healed a little bit slower than they expected of mere appendicitis but there were no serious issues resulting (that I know of). I'd guess though that complications will be more likely dependent on severity, so it may well be a numbers game - 1% at the lower end of the scale have a further problem, maybe 7% at the higher end, that sort of thing ?
I'd expect that removing extra gut is not likely to be the cause of further problems - it is if they are not radical enough and leave inflamed gut in and it needs to heal, that is where the problem is likely to lie, because CD infected tissue just does not heal properly.
