Gas pain or Sticture?

Well its been 3 weeks since my surgery and I thought I'd fill everyone in. I went back to work on Monday (light duty) and it is good to be with the living.
Monday was also the day that I had formed bowels, and I am back on my routine of only going once per day. The rest of this week has been the same as Monday.My energy level is good, I am very tired after work as I am on my feet all day. My appetite is really good and I am getting more and more hungry.
I had one problem so far and it was this morning. I get up at 5 a.m. and let the dogs out,feed them and get a cup of coffee. I then go to the computer and check this site out. As I'm sitting here, i start to get some pain in my lower center stomach. (My normal BM time is between 6-7 am) It laster for maybe 5-10 sec. I went to the bathroom and sat down and the same pain came back. I then had a BM and I feel fine now. Do you think it was gas pain or was it the start of a blockage again? I'm a little worried!
I am on 5mg of Prednisone, 2400mg Asacol.

A little worried!!

Hi Wolfie since it was of short duration and only happened this am maybe it was something gassy you ate.. so good to hear you are doing well and cain't believe you are back to work already.... lol gail

I, too, think it was probably gas...I just had that feeling 20 minutes ago. I wasn't sure if I was going to have to actually go to the bathroom, so I went just in case. But the pain went away...so I consider that to be "trapped gas".

I agree with the above too, I think it was just a gas pain. I get those alot since I had my resections.

Thanks Wolfie for the update, I was wondering how you were doing. How long do you plan on being on Prednisone and interested in knowing if you are going to go on Imuran as I think you said in another post or stay with the Asacol?

Thanks for the update wolfie good to know you have been doing better. I would think that it might be gas pain or pain from stool moving over a sore spot, but I think it might be a good idea just to let your gi know that you are having some sort bursts of pain.

Thanks everyone! I was thinking that it was gas pain too. I just wasn't sure.

Bammer: As for the Prednisone, Starting next week i stay on 5 mg but every other day for 2 weeks and then stop. As for the decision about Imuran, I'm still unsure. I wish they made a drug with less side effects.

heyy, just a quck question, does gas pain usually only last a short amount of time? i remember about a year ago i had sudden severe stomach pain that was put down to IBS or gas pains but it lasted for about 1-2hrs?? can crohn's cause severe pain caused by excess gas build up? i've been diagnosed with crohn's mostly based on my symptoms and elevated liver enzymes a few times. i've had the usual crohn's test which have come back fine apart from an inflammation blood test which was positive before i started medicine. it certainly takes a long time to get an official 100% diagnosis doesn't it!?
