kunglao, Jordan Rubin has a follow-up book called "The Maker's Diet." This is the diet we initially did for my son and had success. My personal belief is that you can use any GOOD brand of probiotics, digestive enzymes, etc., and do not have to buy his brand, though. I admit we did not do the detox clay or the "cleansology" which Rubin puts forth, nor did I purchase his supplements. I still use many of the basic tenants of this diet, though, and feel it's a very healthy way to eat.
After learning the Maker's Diet we learned of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) put forth in the book "Breaking the Vicious Cycle", by Elaine Gottschall. This diet was around before the MD and I have it on good authority that it is what "cured" Jordan Rubin and that Elaine personally coached him to wellness. Rubin tweaked the SCD, re-named it and added his supplements. The two diets are remarkably similar in that they restrict total carbohydrate intake. Fermented products (like home made yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, etc.) are also a critical element of these two diets as they add beneficial bacteria to your intestines (what you're paying for in probiotics!).
I would suggest reading about both of these diets and decide which way you want to go. We've had great success and I hope you do too! I also hope CrazyHarry comes along, because he follows the MD and has also had great success!
