Hi Everyone-
I've had an inflammatory bowel disease my entire life, but wasn't diagnosed until 3 years ago. For 2 years I've only been able to eat the same 5 or 6 foods every day, which are all free of fat, animal protein, gluten, etc. I've got malabsorption along with the inflammatory bowel disease and food sensitivities, so at one point, my weight dropped to 83 pounds at 5'7. Right now I'm 103 pounds. I have many, many symptoms (some are also due to lyme disease).
My new doctor has offered me some hope (FINALLY!), but I'm struggling terribly right now and I am very unstable. My doctor is going to give me an amino acid IV tomorrow since I'm so horribly deficient in protein, but I'm a little nervous. I react to EVERYTHING it seems, and I'm worried that my body is going to freak out since it's so malnourished and hasn't had these sorts of nutrients for so long. I think there may even be a name for that, like "refeeding syndrome"? I completely trust my doctor, but I'm a little gun shy these days!
But anyways, I was just wondering if any of you have found yourselves in a similar situation, and if anyone has had an amino acid IV before.
Thanks for your help!
