So I received my first Remicade infusion on Friday morning... I was pretty nervous, but everything ended up working out fine; and by fine I mean no infusion reactions :) At my doctor's office they don't give any "prep meds", they wait until a reaction occurs and then treat it accordingly.
The nurse was great... explained everything to me while getting things ready, was in the room the whole time for almost the first hour and was there with me practically all rest of the time. My appt was at 9:00, infusion started at 9:15 and I was out of there just after 11:30.
The only thing I wonder about is that after I left I was feeling a bit nauseated... I'm normally a constipated kind of girl, but halfway home I HAD TO GO! That happened basically all day; and all weekend I've been really gassy... a lot more so than usual. Has anyone noticed this?
Just wanted to share my experience... thanks to everyone who has answered my questions/tried to alleviate my fears about it the last couple of months! I'll be back for my second one in a couple of weeks.
