Ihad a right Hemi-Colectomy the symptoms i had before surgery were awful i had constant D and vomiting after eating anything along with stomach pain, drastic weight loss, constantly tired and aching joints I was only on salazophrine an anti inflammatory and iron tablets. After the surgery  the surgeon explained that when they took out the diseased part he also took an extra couple of inches either side in case there were any specs that couldn't be seen by the naked eye. I went for my 6 week check and was told everything was ok was told to stay on the salazophrine and iron tablets and go back to see him in 3 months which i never did. I  quit came off tablets as i felt on top of the world and basically just wanted to get on with my life being well and not have to be reminded of it every few months going to see surgeon and having all relevent tests, so i just got on with life ate anything and everything. As the years went on i even wondered if i did have crohn's as i had no symptoms it was only picked up in sept because i had gone to A/E with a fistula and after having tests found that the crohn's was active and had narrowing in the small intestines this time. luck was obviously on my side along with the fact that i never thought about being a person with crohns after the op in 93  I hope this has helped Bev xx
