Fistula, abscess or zit? Hemmy?....

Okay, so this is gross, I know. I have been having a pain in my behind today & I felt around where it is tender & there was a lump there.... I wondered if it was a hemmy, but it's not right on my anus. It's up in the crack of my behind... I had my husband look at it, and he said it's headed up like a big pimple. Has anyone ever had anything like this? How do you tell the difference between a fistual, abscess, 'roid or something else? I am just not into have my behind checked out yet again.... I was kinda wondering: how long I should wait & watch this before I call & go see the doc?

A hemmie would be located right at the point of the anus so it's not likely that (and they're generally purplish looking cuz it's the vein that swells up), perianal crohn's skin tags also result from usually right at the anal point as well but can appear right around the edge of the anus but it's fleshy looking...so I'm guessing it's either a pimple, or abcess which can become a fistula, I'd get it checked out ASAP myself.

Great.... I was kinda hoping it was a hemmy that would go away. It's really painful & tender. My husband thought maybe it was a zit & tried to pop it but it hurt too badly. Very unpleasant. I don't really want to rush to the doc on this one... I am a bit afraid of what it could be & don't feel like bearing my behind yet again...

I agree with Pb4. I'd see a doctor ASAP. Owwwww I hate abscesses!!! Hate them hate them hate them!! But I also know all too well what happens when you leave them to their own devices. They have very evil devices!! They get worse and then what was one fistula can branch as mine did!

Sorry about all the ranting! I just detest the things. Hopefully yours is very small and the doc can take care of it easily and completely!

I am still hoping it's just a pimple. I know ya'll said I should see a doc ASAP, but I am still going to wait to see what happens. It's not too big yet... took a nice hot bath hoping that will help. It just plain hurts that's all. Sitting hurts, walking hurts... ugh....

Are you doing lots of sitz baths? With epsome salts is good.

I took a bath last night... I am not doing sitz baths, not equipped for that, just regular baths, tonight I will take one with epsom salt.

Right now my hubby said it's got a small white head on it. He thinks it's probably a pimple or something. I worry about what it could be... It's tender & there's a lump under it, it feels like inside. The darn thing is right on the folds of my anus, I guess, perianal area I suppose? We are watching it right now to see if it goes away. I figure I will give it a couple days & go from there. I have not called my doctor yet. It is not purple, so I am pretty sure it's either a pimple or an abscess.

I had horrible problems last night with D waking me up at 1:45am & then going 6 more times after that. I have had horrible abdominal pain too & nausea. I am hoping it's nothing & will pass. No blood or anything like that....

If it's an abscess, wouldn't I have a fever?

I have something similar and have been worried about it. I see my new Doc in early May and will ask him. Mine is a little far up to be a hemmie. it also is almost like a fold of skin but has a point. Hard to explain, but gross and painful at times. Hang in there, I know how you feel! Karen

Thanks pb4! Hmmm... not a hemmie. I don't think it's just a skin tag either. It's got a head on it. Hoping it's a pimple! I wish there were some pics on there of abscesses...

Hey a while back I bought a large family pack of Egyptian river cruise tickets. I'll sell them cheap! Cruising the River De-Nile!!! Watch out for the crocodiles and water falls!!

Hoping it is a pimple too. But if it is an abscess, it could be getting bigger every day, which means more healing time. I ignored an abscess for a long time and only sometimes would I have a low-grade fever. I got a high fever when it started to go septic. It had gotten so huge. Ugh!!

I guess I just have to wait it out... It's not really red or anything... Just a lump a bit larger than the size of a pencil eraser, with a tiny little white head on it..

Hi Hope the baths are helping you some. I had a little pimple thing abour 4 months ago and I went to outpatients and had it looked at.. soaking did the trick for me and it went away,but it was quite painful. Hope things are getting better.. lol gail

So hukleberrie did it look like the pics in the links I posted above? I don't know if it's a good idea or not to keep trying to squeeze it compared to letting it burst on it's own, it may cause an infection from squeezing??? Lots of hot sitz baths with epsom salts will help it burstand with using the salt there's less chance of infection (epsom salt not table salt).

The abscess pic link didn't work, but the boil is much too red & irritated looking. This is more of a lump inside & a small white pustule on top of it. I am just going to have him try one more time, he's thinking maybe an ingown hair (not much hair there, but okay) or a pimple. I can't see it, so I have no idea. I can just feel it. I did try to check it out with a mirror, which is why I know it's not red & inflammed... It's uncomfortable & there's pressure like I have to poo all the time – not digging that at all.

Basically, I am just trying to ignore it. Once my teenage daughter is out of the bathroom, I am going to take a quick bath with epsom salt & see if it doesn't help. I will have my old man check on it & see what he thinks & if it's changed. He said it looked the same this morning as it did yesterday...

Ha, that's weird, I just checked both links and they both work, maybe on your puter you have to copy and paste the link into your search engine to veiw it....they're good pics too, you should be able to do a good comparisson to what's on you.

Pilonidal sinus (ingrown hair can cause similar issues to boils/abscesses) my hubby had that, he had surgery for it, it was right on his tail bone.

Oh, it did work after pasting it, for some reason the link just took me to a blank search page... I am not sure... its not red or irritated yet... Just a lump under the skin with a small tiny whitehead. The lump is way bigger than the whitehead...

I had looked at the pilonidal sinus pics before. I don't think that's it either. This is right on the outer folds of my anus. Not on my tailbone. Anorectal abscess is closest, just not much of a head to it yet. Maybe it's just a pimple...

Hmmm, if it doesn't look like the boil/abscess pics then hopefully it is just a pimple, which you still might be able to get it to burst on it's own with the hot epsom salt sitz baths, even pimples (especially in that area I'm sure) can get infected.

Well Pimples!!! on the base instead of face. I think it must be an abscess. Do not squeeze it to drain yourself. Show it to the Doc. He may drain it. Self squeezig the abscess may result in fistula. Generally speaking, the pimple on the tail bone is because of hair folicle. At times the hair in such areas may get uprooted because of innerwear. It is quite painful. But my sincere advice, do not fiddle too much. I had done, and I paid price for that. Have sitz bath. I am sure if it is small pimple without sinus, it would go away.

Does the lump become soft after sitz bath. I know it is very painful, as I have one 24/7 for the last 3 years. Take care and do keep us posted.

Darn it! I was really hoping it was just a pimple... I am going to give it a couple more days then call if it doesn't change by Friday. I noticed it on Sunday, so if I get into the doc Monday, that would be a week. I would think a pimple would go away by then...

My husband really thought it was a pimple or ingrown hair or something (although not really any hair at that spot). Then I had him check it again & had him feel the lump underneath & he said now he's not sure what it is...

I am going to take a hot bath with epsom salt tonight & then feel it before & after & see if it's softer afterwards & let you know.

Here's to hoping it will go away! smilewinkgrin
