I've been having a rough time with some personal issues here lately and it is giving me big problems with my Crohn's Disease. My GP gave me Klonopin to help me. Have any of you ever taken this medication and does it help? Thanks so much for any answers!

You will feel much more relaxed on it, but don't take it everyday for more than a few weeks. Even then I would back off it gradually.

I take .5 mg each night. It helps me!

I don't use that exact medication, but I do use Xanax. I found when I was really anxious it caused me all kinds of gastric problems that I kept thinking was my Crohns, found out that anxiety itself will cause the gastric issues. I am now able to stop the anxiety in its tracks with the help of my Xanax. Hope that helps.

I took that a few years ago during a bad flare up. Doc gave it to me to counteract the craziness that resulted from steroids. The Klonopin did help. I took it for daily for a number of months. When I was able, the doc gradually decreased the dosage to wean me off.

Be careful. That stuff is addictive. Google Klonopin and Stevie Nicks.

My husband takes this one but I take other stuff.  Our first psychiatrist acted like it was a great drug, but he retired and our new dr. doesn't want my husband taking it - said it's way too addictive.  But, there are times that he needs it and so he has been using what he has left in his old prescription. 

I take Remeron and have baby Xanax's for extra stressful times.  Neither have bothered my stomach.

I used to use it, and was on it for several years, as I had a bad paxil experience, and was afraid of all ssri meds. Once my psychiatrist was able to get me to try out celexa, I was ok with getting off klonopin.

It is a great med., has been out for some time, has a generic, and helped me alot.

It was quite difficult to get off of though. I have gotten off meds like methadone, and fentanyl, but klonopin was much harder for me. It took me many failed attempts, and then I finally was successful, breaking that .5mg up into 4 pieces.

I would go back on it, if I needed to, but personally feel that only a psychiatrist should prescribe it.
