gee i guess no one cares anymore..   ;0(.. 

  got out of the hospital today after 8 days. a bout of blood infection from the new line i got 3 weeks ago. had the line pulled last week, thats kinda cool. just snip the sutures and yank! i had to get stuck about 10 times a day. are my arms and hands sore! i couldnt get the new line till today cause they had to have 4 days of no growth in the blood cultures first. so the new line is on the left a bit different to place etc.. as the veins are differant on the left side. am going to bed now but more later... smilewinkgrin

Glad to hear you are recovering!

Did you ever get your hernia repaired? I'm having mine done this summer.

Oh yeah, of course you were missed, I might have forgotten to miss you (brain fog) but now that you mention it I guess you were missed LOL!

Glad you're okay now, that must have been pretty scary for you.

Yeah Randy I thought you were on vacation too. Sorry to hear that is was a hospital vacation though:( Hope you are starting to feel a little better now.

Obviously Navy is not aware that Randy and I live in the land of perpetual rain...LOL! No summer sun here yet though they are predicting a high of 70 on Sunday. That will be wonderful considering our last week of temps in the 40s and 50s.

Randy - sorry you had to be in the hospital and of course I missed you!

Randy welcome back. Funny I always think of hospital stays as a vacation from my real life!! But yours doesn't sound like any kind of vacation. Get well soon, and write more often. When I first started here you wrote lots and then you just didn't write or call or email. Glad things are getting better for you

Yes Rando, I did not know you were in hospital but wondered when you missed the chance to zap VV. He just ignores me when he cant come up with a good answer. Glad your back and as always if the line goes bad, I still have some fuel line you can have. It may give you gas though.

yeah, well..........well..............i didn't realize my lot in life was to be your pin cushion. is this an occasion to haul out the 'big dumb bunny' line for the second time? idea i guess the unintended side effect would be that it might catch the passing attention of the snohare again.

where is that rabbit?

well ok i forgive you....

but next time i want worried exprsssions of fear and longing!

well as you know the line exchange that i had back on the 20th of april, seemed to have gone well, untill a couple days later i had neck pain and swelling and fevers etc.. only these fevers didi not go away like my regular ones. so after a week or 10 days i went in and they did blood cultures and started me on Vancomycin. the cultures came back with growth on all three so i had to go to the VA in seattle. for more tests, CT, ultrasound etc.. the decission was made to pull the line out on thursdfay night i think. or friday i cant rerally remember now. they numbed it up all along the tunnnel, gave me some morphine and versed (not enough) and snippped the stitches and gave a yank. came right out.

they kept taking cultures every day till wednesday morning before the new line and so far nothinghas grown. i do have large blood clot in my right juggular vein where the line was. i was getting IV H pearin in the hospital and am taking shots now at home. i have to see the hemotologist later and see if i have to go on coumadin.

so basically i got to lay in bed and attempt to sleep for aweek or so and have 4 iv lines in my left arm. ouch. 2 holes but 4 pig tails. luckily they lasted the whole time so i did not need them replaced. i did lose about 8 lbs. they could not run TPN so i got PPN. apparently a half strength version so it wont rot your veins.

also in the neck where the clot is i had some thrombo-phlebitis. or inflamation of the vein because of the clot. so thats why i had the neck pain.

all in all hopefully this bug i have/had was the cause of my fevers and will maybe be taken care of now they know what it is and all the antibiotics. wont that be wonderfull..

they name of the bug is Stapholococus Lugdunensis. not discovered untill 1988in france. i get all the new stuff! semms the last few years there have been more of it with implanting of lines, pacemakers etc.. hips..

seriously, rando, i hope this IS the answer to the fevers. i don't know if that condemns you to the life of a pin cushion, but i would think better that than a constant infection.

so far so good.. feeling weak, but better. the clot in my neck you can see from the outside when i turn my head. no fever since i was in the hospital. not got a great appetite yet so maybe ill lose a few more pounds.

shocked Have you got a few pounds to spare Randy ? ! I would hate to think that your PPN had been in vein....( blush oops sorry) well anyway I am sure VV must have a few to spare that he can send you, liposuction doesn't cost much... there is a reverse procedure for that, isn't there ? tongue
That Staph. L is one of those nasty biofilms that builds up inside the lines is it, that they have a terrible time getting rid of ?
My only excuse for not missing you is I haven't been shooting ! smilewinkgrin Been busy planting this season's food and getting ready to move house.

Hey, don't go to Las Vegas VV, they already have enough money. Come over here to bonnie Scotland and give our impoverished bankers some of your hard-earned readies ! I promise that I will save some carrots for you.
This being the planting season, and me being me, I am way behind in building and germinating all sorts of things in half a dozen different locations, so I have barely been online except to ask gardening buddies on the Grapevine forum about burning issues like how high does a French bean grow.
( eyes Answer: as high as destiny and it's desire to add to France's glory will take it ! smilewinkgrin)
I was hoping to be able to grow Cherokee Trail of Tears runner beans this year, but couldn't get seeds, they are kind of rare over here and the friends I had visiting Tennessee couldn't find any.
idea So here's hoping you guys at least are full of beans ! (Come on now, surely you saw that one coming....Randy, I know you are not full of beans, but here's hoping you can do a runner from the doctor soon. yeah )

Sounds like you have been spending way too much time being a pin cushion.  And now blood thinners!  That really sucks!!  Praying you will be well soon and free of doctors and their needles!
