Crohn's, currentley flaring, unusual feeling. Fistula, Skin Tag?

Hi All,

I feel something at the end of my anus. It feels like when I finished going and stand up it moves into place, almost like when you put a suppository in and it forms into place. Is that the same thing as a skin tag? If not, does anyone know have any thoughts as to what it could be? I’m flaring, on pred/zone now, and it’s just one more thing to worry about.

Got to love Crohn's!

Its hard to say from your description, but it could very well be a skin tag. Many of us Crohnies have them.

I have anal skin tags (perianal crohn's skin tags, aka; elephant ears) and mine are huge, it's actually where my CD started and then it attacked me internally, usually CD starts in the TI but not mine, however it did end up there too.

Here's a link that shows pics of hemmies (which is what my skin tags were misdiagnosed as) and then the set of pics below the hemmies are the skin tags.  Some CDers get hemmies too so it's a good idea to use a mirror and see which yours resembles more (in comparison to the pics in the followin link)...

Either way, if this is a new issue for you, you should have you doc check them out.

double dd , I feel your pain and know how you feel. I am not sure if I have a skin tag or a hemmie. Right now whatever it is it is bleeding like crazy!!!! It is almost like a fold of skin. I know I have internal hemmies but not sure what this external pain in the but is. I thought we should not have hemmies removed or skin tags. I am seeing a surgeon next week to possibly have mine injected with something to shrink them. Does this sound like something I should do? I am scared to have surgery on them but I can't live with them like this anymore. thanks, karen

Go see a good colorectal surgeon. Lots of primary care physicians have trouble telling the difference between hemmies, skin tags, and abscesses. What you have could be any of those--or even a perianal fistula. Going to see a competent, experienced guy is the only way to go when you're dealing with something like this. Good luck!

nawlinscate, I have an apt with a colorectal surgeon next week. I guess I am doing the right thing. thanks! Karen double dd, I hope you see some relief soon!
