I was first diagnosed with CD back in 2001, had two surgeries in 2003 and been fortuned enough to be in remission ever since.   Throughout the years, I never had problems with diarrhea but rather constipation, mostly due to the medications before the surgery. For the past 6 years, I have been on a low maintenance dosage (4 pills/day) of Lialda and just my thyroid medication so can no longer blame it on meds.   I have not been able to find anything over the counter or as prescript ion to help me get better bowl movement and yes... I tried all those home remedies and diet changes as well without any success. Every meds I have tried always causes major cramping and stabbing pain after 2-3 times of use. On top of that, since last year I am struggling now with hemorrhoids that come and go but as of late will not go anymore.   2 days ago, I had my routine colonoscopy and my doc found two ulcers at my incision side...great...now I am back on Entecort again.   Is there possibly anyone who has or had the same issue? I am frustrated, between the darn hemorrhoids, constipation and now my doc telling me that after 6 years in remission I am active again, I do not know what to do. Any suggestions would be REALLY appreciated.

I feel for you literally. I have been having the same issue for awhile now. I spend most of my meals eating things that will keep stools soft. I take metamucil, eat fruit (not too acidic kinds), Eat veggies like, corn, peas, celery and lettuce which can be tough to digest but seem to work for me. I swim and walk every day and do stomach exercises to keep things moving. Sometimes I put my massager on my stomach and move it back and around.

I have hemroids and a stricture right at the end of the rectum and yeah if I get constipated it is very painful.

Hope you find some answers to make you feel better.

Metamucil is not working for me and I can't eat corn and lettuce. I will try stomach exercises though. What do you do to control your hemorroids? I got a cream from my doc for the pain but that is not working that well anymore.

a full 4tbs of milk of magnesia, every other night. works like a charm and the "left overs" keep things flowing on the day I skip. Sometimes I can get away with 3tbs. No rice no rice products etc. Nothing that swells because of water internally. When I *can* tolerate extra foods (I've got active strictures so I'm mostly liquid) I made sure if they've been cooked with water and swell (pastas etc) that they are over cooked to have inhaled all the water they can stand in the cooking process and don't steal any from me!! Nothing gummy like bread either. Small meals.

It's a simple and relatively healthy approach. It works for me. Give it a shot. If you've got ulcers or strictures, fiber is like eating sandpaper. At least for me, that's a Bad Idea. LOL.

I suffer with constipation myself. I use stool softners every night to help keep things soft and passable. If I don't use them one night, the next day I am in a world of hurt. I have been using these nightly for years now. Hope that helps.

For the hemrroids I use cream too. It's just hard stools that make everytime feel horrible.
