Just wondering......

The posts on methotrexate has got me thinking about this, I have successfully been on methotrexate for neary 7 years and expect to be on immunosuppressants for the forseeable future - it works for me don't want to rock the boat! But obviously at some point if say I want to have kids or whatever would have to switch to something else (they tried to wean me off the methotrexate once to go med-free and I flared and so I've been kept on it since) I'm guessing it would be to the other immunosuppressant immuran/azathioprine but I was just wondering how different are these drugs? As immuran is less dangerous does that mean its not as strong methotrexate and less effective? Do you think my body would notice if I switched or are they pretty much the same? Has anybody else done this?

Sorry lots of questions which may seem silly as I have no intention of doing it soon but was just curious for future purposes, I like to be clued up on things and have a game plan!

I did ask my GI and he went into further detail about Imuran and Metho but he would not switch from one immuosuppresant to another as they basically do the same thing. He would step up if one was not doing the job.

Writer, I find that interesting that metho worked while Imuran didn't. Guess everybody is different.
