Bloods are fine...but symptoms are not?!

Hey All!
Hope you're all well!...or as well as one can be with Crohns!! Well it's been a while since I last posted. I'm now on weekly humira injections. My bloods have been fine, I haven't lost any weight but I've been definitely getting some crohns symptoms. Pain in the usual spot, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea...

Is it possible for your tests and physical examination to appear fine but for your crohns to be active?? I always worry that I'm turning into a hypochondriac!!

Also my skin has become seriously bad lately. Loads of spots, some hives on my face and it's been seriously itchy. Does this happen to anyone else on humira????

Yes I think so, my blood is never crazy bad but I have many bad symptoms.

I just had my yearly check in with the Doctor at the major hospital and then my appointment with my local Doctor. I was afraid to go to these appointments, cause I just knew they were going to order a bunch of tests since I just don't feel well. But all my blood work is good, some is excellent. So I must be fine. I really wish they would listen to the patients. I just don't feel as good as I did a year ago. No dramatic change, just a gradual increase in symptoms. But since the blood is fine.....

Sorry, that was a non-productive rant.

I really don't have any help for you other than to keep pushing. That is what I am going to do.

when I went through my worst flare my bloodwork always showed as perfectly fine, same with urine and all yet I was inflamed and all when they scoped me, took til a scope for them to believe I was sick. Surprising to me this time around my blood was showing inflammation markers for once so they believed me quicker of course.

Not sure about active disease/inflammation, but I know the frustration.

My tests usually come back fine, well let me re-phrase that. My blood tests that are done at best once a month, usually come back fine. If I am too sick to get out of bed, and can't make my doctor appointment that day, well nobody will see those test results.

I tend to think that maybe if there is not active inflammation found, then there is little to nothing for the doctor to work with. The doctor can do a colon test and see what all the disease has done to the person, all the scar tissue, strictures, and other problems, but that is all in the past... Maybe that is what separates a good g.i. from an awesome g.i. An awesome g.i. doesn't need to find active inflammation to control symptoms.

What is your usual spot for pain? I want to compare mine.

My bloodwork all recently came back normal, too, with my sed rate just 5. But I always have pain/discomfort in the lower/mid right abdomen, about 3 inches or so over from my belly button. It's not severe or anything, more of a discomfort and tenderness, but it definitely hurts when you press on it. (I know, "so don't press on it!") ;)

I have sleep apnea and sleep with CPAP at night, so my pain is usually much worse in the morning because of all of the air that gets forced into my digestive tract at night. Once it passes that spot, it's not as bad.

to answer you AMinNJ I always get my pain in the lower left side. Of course for some reason that happens to be the lesser normal of the pain spots, docs always make a face of confusion since my crohns is right side located but my pain always shows left sided. Some reason my dads crohns is the same way. I describe the pain I get to labor pains, I found labor easier, haha....oh dear. I also find my pain worst at night I guess its because of the day worth of eating catching up to me.

Ouch! I can't imagine having labor pains all the time. (Well, actually I can and that's terrible!)

Sounds like your symptoms are different and unusual. I personally think that being different and unusual is a great thing, except, of course, when it comes to dealing with a disease like CD and doctors who like everything to be just like the textbook says it should. Hang in there! Keep us posted.

hipsydipsy: totally itchy. face, tummy, back, EARS. I've tried using this Aveeno "anti-itch" body wash stuff in the shower. I'm not sure how much it's helping, but a bit, I think...
