Humira and Remicade Questions - Cost, Assistance, Results

Having never tried either, but heading in the direction of choosing one or the other (for fistulizing Crohn's --have had a small bowel fistula to the skin for 6 months), does anybody have any advice on whether one is "better" than the other?

Does anybody know the precise costs of each (I do not have insurance)? Or know how to go about getting assistance through the companies?

I am applying for Medicaid, but unless I am found to be disabled, I will be denied. So cost may be a factor in my decisions, although Humira is much more accessible (would have to travel for Remicade infusions).

I actually am taking the triple antibiotic therapy right now (anti-MAP), have been for 3 months, and am very reluctant to try these biologic drugs, but am trying to convince myself one way or the other very soon.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks.

Remicade was my wonder drug when I was fistulizing. I agreed to it before I had too much time to doubt my choice, and never looked back. Now I've been through Humira, and currently Cimzia.... still no regrets, but wishing I could find something that worked as well for me as the Remicade did. I'm a bit sick of biologics, and they are apparently sick of me too. If I were fistulizing again though - I wouldn't hesitate to give Remicade another try. For me, nothing was worse than the fistulas and abscesses.
