Is TMJ associated with Crohn's Disease?

I was just wondering how many of you have had problems with TMJ and is it associated with crohn's disease. I've come down with a case of tmj confirmed last sunday at my drs. office then noticed i have a little EN that has popped up on my leg. I have to assume that my crohn's disease is active again but i'm not in a bad flare just a slight onset of symptoms. Hope you all are having a pain free day and Happy 4th.

I have not been diagnosed with TMJ, but I have recently started noticing that I am clinching my teeth alot and my jaws get sore. So who knows?? And Happy 4th of July to you and everyone else. Everybody stay safe!

Thanks for pointing it out. I've had clicking of the jaw for years, but now I know the condition has a name. Fortunately, I seldom get pain in the jaw, but it has happened on occasion.

Wow mine got so painful i could hardley open my mouth. I also had swelling gums both upper and lower and the tissue inside the cheek was swelling too. It became very painful thats what sent me to the the drs. office. The reason i was asking is a friend said she has a friend with crohn's and her friend was suffering from TMJ also so i was wondering how common this is.

I have TMJ....was diagnosed years ago before the crohns diagnosis but after my UC and pouch placement...I did notice that my TMJ and teeth clenching became worse after my crohn's diagnosis...most likely stress...I had a mouth guard made by my dentist and it helps when I remember to wear it!

Oh yes, I've had this since I was a teenager. I remember it getting locked up and I couldn't open it wide enough to eat. I'd just have to sit there with my mouth shut for an hour or two before it would unlock. It was quite scary. Now I still get pain and clicking sounds, but it hasn't locked up in a long time thank goodness. Not sure if it's related to Crohn's. I think mine is partly because I grind and clench my teeth.
