GI Docs in DC Area

I am fairly certain (still a few things to finalize) that I will be relocating from Southern California to the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area later this year. While I'm excited about the move for personal reasons, the biggest concern I have is starting all over with a new GI doctor. Wanted to see if anyone had recommendations for a doctor in the area. I have a great relationship with my GI now and will be asking him if he has any colleagues there, but thought getting a good word from a fellow patient is even more of an endorsement!

I'm 32, have Crohn's colitis, and have only had 2 major flare-ups since diagnosed in 2001 (one was earlier this year...still coming out of it).

I do NOT recommend George Washington University Hospital for IBD many reasons. When my daughter was hospitalized there they used a "GI Service" which was a nightmare and when I asked for Ginsberg, was told he wasn't really actively seeing their patients. "Part-time" seems to be more like never, at least for new patients. 

BUT Dr. I David Shocket, associated  with Washington Hospital Center, and also has offices in Chevy Chase, was a real sweetheart. Great at answering emails and very down-to-earth. His website is http://www.drshocket.com/

I live in south Central PA and I drive 90 miles to my GI in Baltimore, MD at Johns Hopkins.  It should only be about 45-60 minute drive for you.  My doc is one of the best in the country (Dr. Ted Bayless) and I believe he is accepting new patients. He's the director of the Meyerhoff Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Hopkins. Just expect a 6 month wait to get your initial appointment...after that, they'll squeeze you in when you have issues.  The other docs are great as well.  He's been at Hopkins since 1964 and has co-written medical text books on the subject.  I highly recommend Dr. Bayless.  Here is a link: http://www.hopkins-gi.org/BIO/BIO_BioPg.aspx?SS=&CurrentUDV=31&User_id=1173
