Need Advice-fever and right lower quadrant pain after resection

Ok, so here I am again.  The pain that I've been having on  the lower right side is getting worse every day and now I have a fever of 100 F.   I called the Dr. on Monday and they attributed the pain to muscle pain.  However, the pain is worse and now the fever.  What could this possible be?  I had an ileocolectomy three weeks ago today and had 8 inches removed.   UGH.  I guess I'm going to have to go to the ER.  Was hoping not to go down this road.   Any advice?  Oh, I'm also still trying to get off the prednisone.  I'm down to 20 mg for the last two days.  Have been on 40mg, since April and started tapering 2 1/2 weeks ago when I got out of the hospital. 

I would say the pain is sharp like someone is poking me with a knife and I actually feels better if I'm standing or sitting.  I can't seem to get comfortable in bed and cannot lay on my left side at all without having pain.

Just talked to the Patient Advisory Nurse and that is what she suggested. Go to the ER. I guess I'm headed there now. I'll keep you posted.

I'm admitted. I had a CT of my abdomen which shows a pocket of fluid near my small bowel. My WBC is elevated too. Had a bunch of blood cultures etc... and will talk to the surgeon in the morning. His partner, who was on call, seemed hopeful that I could possibly just have it drained in radiology without having to go back to surgery. However, if the infection has spread beyond the little pocket into my bowel--I'm most likely facing more surgery to fix it. UGH! I'm so bummed. I did ask the Dr. if any of this was from me over-doing it etc... and he said no--it just happens sometimes. Crap! I thought I was doing so good. I have no idea what I'm facing tomorrow, so if anyone else has experienced this, please, please share your story.
