Longest Flare?

What's your longest flare? I've recently passed 3 months with active GI symptoms, and probably another 3 months in addition to that with "low-level" symptoms like joint pain, PG, and fatigue. Someday, maybe, hopefully, remission will come again...

Well I would like to point out the fact that it is sometimes difficult to classify a 'flare' with myself. I mean my symptoms usually get worse and worse gradually. I suppose getting something like a partial obstruction is considered a flare...so those can hit me, then im sick/flaring for a 3-4 day span. As for having chronic symptoms, but still being able to work (even just barely), this can be confusing to me. Having little appetite and cramps but still surviving is when it gets difficult for me to say that im flaring or not. I get this alot. Anyhow, im sorta trying the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and it does seem to help a bit...and its only been a few days...cheers

6 months was my longest with full blown symptoms. I've only had 2 flares since I'm newly diagnosed, my other one lasted about 2 months. The 6 months was absolutely brutal though, worst 6 months of my life for sure....

I guess I had 3 straight years of "somebody shoot me, so this can be over" and then gradually I got way better and don't feel like I am on that train any more. Have bad weeks or days but nothing like that ride.

6 years. Ive never been in remission since being diagnosed when I was 16.

Same boat as trigirl...but still in it...3rd year...then there are what I term the "super flare"...symptoms get so worse...but I did experience remission for 3 years...still looking for the remission...anyone seen it? I seem to have lost it somewhere...

Easier to count the only real remission I have had and that was 2 months.

15 years! Never a day without pain and bleeding. The diarrhea would ease up a bit here and there.

The longest would be pre-diagnosis, which was 2 years. My worst flare was 2 summers ago. I normally didn't have a tremendous amount of pain unless I had an obstuction. But that summer, I had really awful back and abdominal pain for 4 months. If my doctor hadn't given me a script for oxycodone, I would have curled up and died. The funny thing was, it was a pretty happy summer, even though I spent most of it flat on my back (I just read a lot, and played video games). That pain pill high kept me from feeling sorry for myself, I guess. What finally ended the flair was entocort. I'd been on prednisose the whole summer, but it didn't help at all. My insurance company finally caved after 4 months of badgering and let me have the entocort. Would have been nice to have gotten it at the beginning of the flare!

I've had problems 8 years before I was diagnosed alittle over ayear ago so I have to say 9 years. It has gotten worse through the years.

I would say the longest was back in 2004-2005. It took about 1 1/2 years to get it figured out that it was an stricture and after trying all sorts of meds they finally decided I needed another resection. All has been pretty good since then, just a few bumps in the road.

I don't even know how to figure out whether my perpetual daily problems constitute a flare. Feels like forever--5 years before diagnosis and 10 years since.

Wow, I'm sorry to see how many of you are dealing with a flare for years! I had a bad flare for 7 months and I didn't know how I was going to get thru it. I look back on it and still don't know how I survived the daily physical and mental anguish. My heart goes out to all of you and what you're going thru.
