Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum so I apologize in advance if this has been talked about a lot or if there are other threads about this.
I've had Crohn's disease for almost 4 years now and it hasn't been pretty. Right now, I believe I'm flaring up. As for meds, I'm currently talking entocort, cipro, iron supplements, and just recently azathioprine. I had a doctor appointment today and he was very eager to start me on Humira. I convinced him to hold it off for 4 weeks because he at first told me if azathioprine helped I didn't have to take Humira.
I am basically really confused about all of this. I do not know if I should start taking Humira. I've research a bit about it but I was looking for some first hand experiences from anyone who is on Humira and is willing to shed some light. I have a lot of questions and concerns. For example, the long term effect on my immune system and body. Also, if I start it and after a couple of month my symptoms are gone, can I eat some of the foods I gave up, or will they still remain as triggers? I've lived with symptoms for 4 years, I forgot how it is to not have stomach cramps throughout the day or pain after eating etc. Will it really make the pain go away?
Any experiences and comments will be highly appreciated. What are some of the pros and cons?
thanks!
