I guys I am new to this website but was so excited to find something like this.  I am a little different than some but I myself doesnt have crohns but my husband does. He has had it for over 2 years and takes Remicaid. It is working very well for him but we have been trying to have a baby for over 5 months now and no luck:( Didnt know if anyone had any thoughts or know of any side effects. thanks all

Welcome -- I know of no side effects from any of the standard Crohns drugs that would affect male fertility. There are some cautionaries on some of the drugs for female patients planning to get pregnant, but nothing he takes should have any impact on your parental plans.

Sulfasalazine causes sperm abnormalities that disappear when the drug is discontinued. So if your husband is also taking sulfasalazine, that could explain the infertility.

Thank you so much!!! Do you all have any kids or plan too..... I was curious what you doctor has said about any medications you are on?!?! Also I noticed the B12 shots.....he just recently went to the doctors and he mentioned putting him on them, does it help you or do you find yourself having more energy?!?!

Thank you so much! I would have it no other way:) I was so excited to find this wedsite so I can ask other people other than him and doctors questions, I never even knew how common it really was. I wish you the best, have you ever been on remicade?!?! I tell you what, it has done wonders for my husband!!!!

MikeB - I just started another thread concerning 6MP and pregnancy from the father's perspective when I saw your post here. What's your take, as my wife and I would like to have a child??

BowesKara, I was on Remicade for 3 1/2 yrs. In addition my gi started me on Imuran as he said its suppose to enhance the effects of the Remicade. I had a reaction on the 3rd infusion and required pre-meds from then on. My infusions were done every 4 weeks, it really is a drug that should be tailoired to a persons needs. At first they thought Remicade stayed in the system alot longer than it actualy does. Over time it became ineffective for me and eventually caused Lupus. I started on Humira this past Jan and so far so good. I now take Plaquenel for the Lupus as my rheumy says it too can induce Lupus. Hope the Remicade helps him for a long time, it did me.

I have not been on Remicade yet. I'm currently on Humira.

I see everyone speaking of Humera.....is that in the same type of med as the remicade??? Also I heard someone mention the Remicade caused Lupus...never heard that before, it that def. what they are saying caused it?!?
