Hmmm. Public ward; multiple room-mates; little security and lots of visitors (for the other patients!!) popping in and out.

I'm not going to take anything too big or conspicuously expensive in there. The nurses would have a fit if I took a laptop, and I don't want to start wrong there. Also, I have to drag it all the way down to the city by train, and it's going to be hard enough having to take nightclothes *and* medicine *and* tp (because the hospital stuff kills Crohn's bottoms within 24 hours) *and* enteral food, so I need something tiny that I can tuck in with my other luggage.

You'll like the ipod since you have a mac. It's intuitive in the same way.

I always bring my PSP to the hospital with me for long visits. Movies, musics and games keep me entertained. I used to bring my Ipod till I upgraded my PSP to 32gb. You may like an Ipod touch, they have a decent sized screen to watch stuff on if you don't want only music.

That's funny spookyhurst, I used to bring my DS and CycloDS card to my infusions, you should look into a slim PSP with cfw5.00m33 with a cr-5400 photofast memory stick adapter with 2x16gb microsd cards, I enjoy it way more than I ever did my DS (yea I'm a nerd).

What kept me from getting a PSP was the lack of good games. But it would be very nice for the rest of the features!

I'm a nerd too turn. I've got the DS, a Wii, and an Xbox 360 (and still have my PS2). Not to mention a plethora of plastic guitars and drums yeah.

I'd definately recommend the ipod. I've got a 8G nano and i've put all my music on there and it's still only half full! I got mine at kmart for $180. I also bought a new set of headphones because the earbud type hurt my ears. Also you will want to get a wall charger for the ipod if your not taking a laptop because a usb charger is the only type that come in the box. I didnt get one so i dont know how much that would cost you. The nano is great its so small you could easily hide it in your luggage. My sister has a Creative Zen mp3 player and i think she is very happy with it but the ipod is sexy. wink
I have loads of classical music as well as rock/pop etc so i've just created a playlist for classical music when thats all i want to listen to. When i'm in hospital i do cryptic crosswords or sudoku; puzzle books can be good.

spookyhurst check again the PSP has really stepped up to the plate with its game selection plus with cfw you can play ps1 games, emus (neo geo , cps2, snes, genesis, gba, etc.), plus it has internet wifi abilities, e-books, the list is amazing. The DS used to be the great but the PSP really is sneaking up quietly with tons of sleeper hits.
