hand hurts after infusion

So today I went for my Remicade infusion but it hasn't helped at all with the fistula so halfway through my regular 5mg dose they decided to double it...meaning after we took a break for lunch I got to sit for another 5mg infusion. The IV was in my hand and my hand still hurts =\ It goes up my pinky and the all the way down my wrist. Mostly it hurts to the touch. Anyone know why it still hurts and what would make it feel better? Ice, heat...nothing... :) Thanks

It could be from a collection of fluids, I've had that happen from ivs before. But mine only lasted an hour or so.

yeah =\ 6 hours of fluids is a lot for my little veins lol. It kind of sucks to get my infusions on Fridays because I can't call anyone with questions or problems over the weekend. I found a hand warmer and have been putting that on my wrist. Seems to help a little at least, hopefully it will be better by morning. Thanks for the response :P

Now my right leg/hip is hurting =\ Has anyone had any side effects with an increased dose of Remicade? The site lists pain/swelling at injection site, joint/muscle pain as serious side effects but doesn't say what they mean. I feel like my hand/wrist is most likely because of all of the fluids and maybe by hip/leg is just from sitting all day but now I'm starting to get anxious :(

I would put heat on both. You may have had the IV irritate your hand and I think your hip pain is more than likely for sitting so long. Hugs!

I am with Nanners on this, I have found wet heat usually works best for pain. So you might want to think about microwaving a wet towel.
