Hi all,
Hope everyone is well (or as well as you can be!). In my last post i explained how i was trying to enrol early cos i had infliximab booked for the same day. Well good news, i am now enrolling on monday the 14th of september! Now i have an appointment with my course tutor in her office to fill in the oceans of paperwork!
This is one of my first opportunities to actually have my tutor to my self and be able to actually speak and explain things to her. My uni sucks at communication. I've had little to no support and what i have gotten, i've had to nag and nag to get. Like i had a semester off (starting infliximab) and each week i had to email my tutor to remind her to mail the notes to me. She could easily have gotten them all together in one box and sent them together, but course that was too easy!!
I have sent each lecturer information on crohn's, and they have seen me shrink to 8st 13lbs from 10st. They know what this does to me and yet i still get the feeling they dont understand. I came back from starting infliximab and one of my lecturers looked me dea in the eye stating 'my disease was sorted out now cos i had new treatment'. I 'm not even sure she knew i have to keep going back for more doses.
This could be my chance to make my tutor really understand what my life is like. How do i go about
explaining this (again) and getting her to understand that i shouldnt have to email the lecturer every time i miss a lecture. How do i go about
this? I do get the feeling they think i'm too sick to be there (one lecturer actually said she heard my tutor state i shouldnt be there, i should come back when i'm better) and i'm using crohn's as an excuse.
Sometimes i wish i could give them all this disease for one day. Just one day and see how they would cope, i know their attitudes would soon change.
Sorry this has turned into abit of a mopey post, for that i'm sorry. I'm swimming through assignments that i should be handing in on monday that arent finished yet. As usual its down to the wire!
