I am really craving cucumber with Italian dressing. But, cukes always give me pains. I know everyone is different, but do we suspect it is the flesh or the seeds that are at issue? I was going to try peeling, then deseeding the cukes. I just am not ready for pain if it really is the flesh...which doesn't look fibrous but I've been fooled before.

If you eat them with the skin on, it may be the fiber from the skin.

I'd assume if you peel the green skin from it, and dont eat it with the skin as some do, and as most restraunts leave the skin on because its just faster for them, but as everyone knows faster is usually not better. Id assume it would be the skin if you leave the green skin on, but if you dont I'd definitly think along the lines of the seeds, I know I pass full seeds from fruits and things liike that quite often as long as I'm flaring it doesnt bother me the least bit but if I AM flaring even the slightest bit then I'll struggle with seeds and such and foods that normally dont really bother me at all in anyway.

I've had trouble with the flesh, but it helps if you chew until it is liquid...
I was just craving cucumbers with blue cheese yesterday. I really, really want it :( Too bad we can't have just one day where it doesn't matter.

I buy the English or European cucumbers. They have no seeds, or very few. And I pare them. I really do love them, too, and can manage them better than lettuce. Had some on a sandwich today.

Raw cukes (minus the seeds) give me issues. They caused a blockage a year ago. More recently, I had 1/4 of a cup 2 nights in a row. I ended up with a bloated feeling for a few days. I have a stricture though, which is the source of my raw veggie problem. People without strictures may do better with them.
