Hadn't posted in quite some time...was doing very well. Working at the FD...training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu several days a week and loving it. Seeing a very nice girl who doesn't mind the crazy bathroom action on occasion. Then had a flare..went to the hospital in may for 7 days and just this August 5th had a temporary ileostomy put in that should be reversed in around 3 months. It's no fun but at least I get to get rid of it. Symptoms are way way better..the flare up pain is almost gone and I go maybe once a day or so now and it's pretty uneventful and just mucus as , of course , no food is getting to the colon. I just felt like complaining a bit...I'm mostly optimistic though and looking forward to getting this thing reversed. Also wanted to see how everyone was doing on here as I haven't been on in so long. Anything new...anyone found a cure yet? hehe. turn

i really feel for you..its not easy what you are going through..my little brother was born with Hirschprung's disease..and he went from having a colostomy to a reversal and back and forth..he was really sick almost died in his situation and so far the colostomy has not been reversed since he was a kid..but going through that its so tough..my heart goes out to you..its one thing to be on toilet and have pain..but when you have something you can look at on your body as a physical reminder..its takes a strong person..and i am sure you are going to pull through this and soon it will be reversed...you sound like it won't get you down..and you are still smiling. Just hang in there and scientists are still working hard to find a cure..i heard some talk that some feel..instead of the immune system fighting your own body..some feel that we need to boost it..i even heard of some people swallowing some type of a worm...to the wonders of probiotics...so you keep up with the Jiu Jitsu and stay with the nice girl who likes you even if you spent forever on the toilet lol right?! Remember you always have the right to complain..if anyone else was in your postion..they probally wouldn't be able to deal...us Crohnie's are tough cookies! We are strong..and we will prevail!

darn right I like that. It's nice to pop online and read some uplifting business from time to time. I've heard some stuff about worms too actually..I dunno if there's anything to it but if someone can show me examples of it working then I'll eat a few. :) I hate seeing this thing and feeling it be all full but it is better then the constant running to the can. For now I can deal I just don't want it to be there for good. So far it's been about a week and a half and the infected part of my colon seems to be healing as the plan hoped. The pain is pretty much completely gone and the few times I do have to sit on the toilet it's basically just mucus which I take as a good sign.

Just make sure to tell your surgeon..what you will and won't deal with..you know..you have to speak up for yourself..usually i think they try to reverse these things..thats the whole idea..in my brothers situation..he has no nerves so his colostomy stays forever...its normal to have the mucus when you sit on the toilet..my lil brother had that too..once he even went to the bathroom...just the tiniest most constipated amount ever...its so hard to see it..i remember my little brother showing me his colostomy..and after a while..i got used to it..i think looking at these things is part of the acceptance process..they do fill up fast..but most important is to take supplies with you where ever you go..he used to have this tape..just in case their was a leak..and you could make a just in case bag..with stuff you might need...i bet when you walk down the street their may be lots of people you never know..who have the same thing as you...and you would never know it...good thing they have some good medicines out their to heal the intestine..i am pretty much in remission in my colon..thanks to simple meds like asacol and pentasa! My issue is my fistula which is like my 2nd anus!!! I hope you are healing and pain free..take care! Eat yogurt!

hehe yeah I have been eating yogurt for several years now once I found out it's supposed to be good for the likes of us. I wonder about that sort of thing when I see people now..."hey does that guy have a bag too?" lol

They say that we need to eat like a bucket of yogurt in order to get enough...of the good stuff..crazy huh...i wonder about stuff like that too...only i am thinking..hmm do they have a fistula abscess seton butt like me lol!
