Do you have Crohns Disease also with your constipation? I can tell you that it can't be healthy to be continually constipated as you are. I suffer with constipation myself, I take stool softners nightly in order to soften up the stool and make it easier to pass. If I didn't do that I would be in a world of hurt the next day. By taking the stool softners everyday, I am now going everyday at least once. Another thing you might try is called Miralax. It is a gentle laxative to help you go.
I would suggest you talk with your family doctor about
this problem and see why it keeps happening. Good luck!

I don't think that regular laxatives would be such a good idea after all that time. The stool will be really hard and impacted. You should definitely talk to your doctor. I am tempted to suggest an enema, but I don't know if even that is safe. You may get better info from a geriatric doctor or a long term care nurse.

Do you have Crohns and what part is affected? Do you have a GI doctor? Some might say to use MUMS but that causes cramps..colace works well and so does senokot...or miralax..my sister uses that...have you tried any type of stool softeners that you gently insert into the anus...i used to use those and its very mild...its not healthy to go 3 weeks between a bowel movement..remember you have to eat a diet that will allow you to move your bowels..so fiber..and drinking water..but if you have Crohns or Colitis..then fiber is not the answer..you need a laxative to move things forward and that might cause some pain..i wouldnt' stay the way you are ...why won't your parents help you? Can you get to a doctor..or a clinic? Where they can do an xray to see how backed up you are..or go to a hospital? How old are you? Are you a teenager? Or younger? Because if you are young..you need someone you can talk to...like an Aunt or an Uncle..someone who can listen to you...I would first try some laxatives that you insert in the bum..i really believe these are the most mild....and it would move along something that was pretty much in the rectal area..and drink alot of water and also moving around like taking a walk..will help you to move things along..hope this helps you in some way..

Watermelon always works for me. I've also heard that apple pie filling works really well too. Just a couple of natural ways that may help. :)

You don't specify where your pain is when having a BM. If you have rectal pain, it can induce bowel paralysis and that will need medical help to rectify.

I would get worried when/if you started having really horrible nausea with your constipation. At that point you are approaching a blockage, which can and does happen to people with or without an IBD.
