Kidney Stone issues

Hi all,

I know that back in 2007 through my many CT scans they noted multiple kidney stones the largest at that time being 4mm as well as a kidney lesion(unsure what that meant but it was in the transcription).  Last month I went to the ER in pain from my kidney stones...I actually had some pain back in June from what I thougth was a UTI since my stones were Dx in my right kidney and I had groin pain on the left side???odd I think.  Then the next morning when wiping there was the stone on the TP.  The doctor had me toss the stone rather than sending it to determine the type of stone it was.  I have since moved clear across the USA and have a PA for a primary care and seeing a new GI next week.  When I went to the hospital in August for the stone pain they didnt bother to do any time of testing they just gave me 2 percoset and sent me home and told me to get a primary Dr...at the time I was still on my exhusbands medical insurance which no place but the hospital took out here and was waiting for my Medicare to kick in. 

The pain I have will be sharp stabbing pain which will take me from a standing position down to the floor like a sack of potatoes.  After some time (typically less than 10 seconds but it feels like an eternity) the pain will pass.  My boyfriend noticed that when I was ill the other week I didnt take my humira (I am on a weekly dose of it) I had no problems with it...I started with the kidney pain a day or so after my dose I took after skipping that week.  I dont know what to do any tips?  I called my PA back to leave a message 2 days ago informing I need to do something for the stones and that pumping me full of pain meds isnt the answer since the pain is gone by the time I could even get the pills and water nevermind the time for it to work.  I dont want to drug myself up with unnecessary pain meds causing my resistance to go up even more since I can go hours even days without pain. 

help please  the PA isnt calling back I have no idea if they are setting me up with a Urologist or ignoring my call or what I am so frustrated.  Does heat help the pain? are there drinks to avoid?

I went to the ER via ambulance today my left kidney was in such terrible pain I was unable to move.  THey were afraid to do a CT scan ...since I have over 20 back in 2007...so they did an ultrasound and didnt see any however they tell me that the ultrasound isnt the best diagnostic tool for detecting stones since it wont pick up on small ones.  My UA came back showing that I have a UTI and my symptoms I am having are showing it is a kidney infection in my left kidney and they actually had trouble watching the left uretur(sp?) pass urine from the kidney into my bladder. 

I am 3000 miles away from that Dr now Sniper.  I had no fever with my troubles today but the pain was so severe it caused me nausea to the point they had to give me zofran.  They gave me Morphine for pain (4mg) and were about to give me the other 4mg and then my arm turned beat red and there was a nice allergic reaction that occurred so they gave me benadryl and Dilaudid ( I know same family but they said that most people if allergic to 1 are not to the other.  I am a bit worried being that I just took my Humira yesterday. 

It hurts to breathe deeply, the pain is constant but there are times it intensifies.  I have no fever my BP was elevated though.  I even have documentation about a "hyperdense lesion" in the lateral aspect of my right kidney in the med report (this is from my CT  from 1-20-08 also states multiple small less than 4mm non obstructing stones in the right kidney

so frustrated and in so mch pain with this UTI

I have had one Kidney stone for the last 5 years. It was found at 5mm and I was told that it would pass eventually. 3 years passed with the odd pain now and then. One night I woke up and I couldn't get out of bed because of the pain. Was taken to the hospital and a CT showed that the stone had grown to 1 cm. I had the stone broken into three pieces and passed only 2. So the last piece started to hurt last December and is 5mm at the moment. It seems to be just a horrible cycle.

I know how you feel and how doctors and members of the medical community find it normal and don't push for a solution.

"Take these, go home and you will pass it eventually" This is the common solution for a kidney stone. The problem is when you don't pass the stone and it just continues to hurt.

You need to collect the stone if it does come out and have it analyzed. This will help you in avoiding foods and liquids that will create more stones.
